The Vintage Keyboard Collection for the Kurzweil Forte was designed to complement the great onboard sounds of the Kurzweil Forte. The instruments sampled directly from their outputs with no effect coloration, designed to give the player a more neutral sound—like when you first plug the keyboard into an amp.
In comparison to the onboard sounds, the Clavinet D6 includes all four pickup settings (vs. two). The CP70b includes six velocity layers (vs. two) while the Pianet N includes four (vs. one). The Mark I (1975) is a beautiful example of the tine electric piano while the 200a and 140b perfectly capture the funky sound of the original instruments.
With the exception of the CP70b, all instruments include release samples created by capturing the sound from the time key is lifted to when the damper is fully engaged. It is a continuation of the sustained sound. The damper can cause a slight change in pitch, in addition to deadening the sound. This can be a critical component when trying to make these recreations sound as authentic as possible. Release samples are different than a release noise which is a mechanical sound of the key and damper.
The entire collection requires 2.12GB, but instruments can be loaded individually.
Mark I (1975)
For many, 1975 was considered to be the golden year for this electro-mechanical piano. It featured the coveted Torrington tines along with just the right hammer tips. The Purgatory Creek Soundware Mark I (1975) was deeply sampled at seven velocity levels recorded for the full duration, so you will hear neither loops nor artificial envelope decays. Nearly every note of the piano was sampled and three velocity layers of note-off release samples are included.

The Purgatory Creek Soundware 200a was deeply sampled at seven velocity levels recorded for the full duration, so you will hear neither loops nor artificial envelope decays. With the Model 200a, each note was sampled and it includes three velocity layers of release samples.

Clavinet D6
Each of the four Clavinet D6 pickup settings (CA, CB, DA, DB) were sampled at seven velocity levels, for full duration. The filter tabs are emulated allowing the user access to the 60 possible tone variations of the original. In addition release samples are included plus a special attack layer provides an additional attack element to the sound.

CP70B
The electro-mechanical piano, upon which this sample-set is based, used actual strings rather than tines or reeds giving it a sound closer to a traditional piano, yet still unique. The Purgatory Creek Soundware CP70b was deeply sampled at six velocity levels recorded for the full duration, so you will hear neither loops nor artificial envelope decays. In addition, nearly every note was sampled.

140B
The 140b electric piano, produced in the early to mid-1960s, uses steel reeds to generate its tone. Though the later 200 and 200a models were more common, the 140 series electric pianos can be heard on numerous recordings made in the 1960s. The Purgatory Creek Soundware Reed EP 140b provides seven sustain velocity layers and an additional three release sample layers. Each note of the 64 note piano was recorded for full duration, providing an accurate sound with no artificial decay envelopes or sample loops.

Pianet N
This electro-mechanical piano was manufactured between 1965 and 1967 and is quite rare. It is a reed-based instrument. The Purgatory Creek Soundware Pianet N was deeply sampled at four velocity levels recorded for the full duration, so you will hear neither loops nor artificial envelope decays. Nearly every note of the instrument was recorded and note-off release samples are included. The original instrument included a mono tremolo effect which is emulated.
