NEW .ART FILE with 15 NEW PRESETS 


The original Rhodes for GigaSampler/GigaStudio came with a mere three presets.  Now have at it with 15 new preset piano patches.   In addition, problem areas have been cleaned up and mappings improved in order to provide more consistent, playable pianos.  Other enhancements such as the inclusion of 8-way velocity splits and new controller assignments makes for a significant upgrade to the original.

To load into GigaStudio do the following:


  • Open the original Rhodes.gig in GigaStudio Instrument Editor.
  • Select FILE -> LOAD ARTICULATION FILE...
  • Select SAVE or SAVE AS...
  • Load the new Rhodes.gig into GigaStudio

 

 

New demonstration file.  All examples were done using the new presets and standard GigaStudio effects. 

Original Demo #1: The Groove. This shows the piano in context. All that was added was a bit of reverb, no EQ or compression.

Original Demo #2: Solo Rhodes™, again a bit of reverb added but nothing else. This is just doodling over a few changes.

CLASSIC RHODES

Nice, balanced traditional Rhodes sound.  Makes use of three velocity splits.

CLASSIC RHODES (FAST RELEASE)

Same as above with a short release.  Though the release found in the first preset is closer to the sound of a real Rhodes piano, the typical Rhodes found many PCM-based synthesizers have very short release times.  This is handy when playing very fast riffs or funky patterns.

JAZZ SUITCASE

The mellowest preset included.  Nice for backing a vocalist or playing a jazz ballad.  The mod wheel brings in a pseudo-stereo vibrato effect.

JAZZ SUITCASE (FAST RELEASE)

Same as above, but with the faster release.

LIGHT AS A FEATHER

A sound not unlike Chick Corea's Rhodes on "Light as a Feather."  Great for jazz and Latin styles, but very versatile.

LIGHT AS A FEATHER (MORE BITE)

A four velocity split version of the above patch bringing in the hard bark sample layer at MIDI velocity 122-127.

73 STAGE - SMOOTH

A more aggressive fusion or rock sound, typically made using the stage version of the Rhodes piano.  The bark is more pronounced.  This preset uses a four velocity split.

73 STAGE - AGGRESSIVE

A variation of the first 73 Stage preset.

73 STAGE - FUSION

A variation of the first 73 Stage preset.  A sound well suited to a jazz-fusion style.

73 STAGE - MW WAH-WAH

A variation of the first 73 Stage preset.  Use the mod wheel to control the wah-wah effect.

NEW STANDARD

Similar in overall tone to the original "Standard Rhodes" preset provided with the Rhodes for GigaSampler, but many aspects of the programming have been improved including new layer mappings.  In general you should find this, and the other two "new" variations to be smoother, more playable, and truer to the sound of the original piano.  This is a four velocity preset.
